Let me interrupt my Canada remembrances to say that on Thursday, May 24 I had a most delightful visit with over 200 students at BLACK MOUNTAIN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL in western North Carolina. Once again the media specialist and teachers got everything right by giving the children a thorough introduction to my book. The children came loaded with enthusiasm, and thoughtful (and challenging!) questions. They also gave me several books of illustrations, letters and poetry about BLUE. One girl even brought me a bouquet of flowers!
School visits like this put me on top of the world every bit as much as trips out of the country to receive awards.
