GUEST BLOGGING FOR EMILY SMITH PEARCE

Hey. Thanks for dropping in.

But, actually, I'm not here.  I hopped a plane...

and landed over at Emily Smith Pearce's blog.

Emily, who now lives in Hannover, Germany, asked me to guest blog about visiting Germany this spring and how traveling for the sake of research influences a trip.

I adore Emily's blog because she's such an artist, writer, mommy, and world citizen sort of person and she has the ability to put those things out there in concise little snippets with gorgeous photos.

So I'm honored to be there today.  Please stop in and say "hallo" or "guten tag" to Emily.

Then, in a day or two, I'll come back here and introduce you to Emily's books!

  1. I loved it, Joyce! It does look like a great blog, and your essay was just illuminating. Yes, it sounds like it would be awesome if you could go back -- but at the same time, I don't know, it all sounds like you got a real feel for the world you're writing about already. I don't know if I have the right to tell you such things yet -- and maybe I am totally biased, but I have a really great feeling about this story.

  2. Oh Katia, you're sweet. I also have a good feeling about the story - even though I'm totally into revisions on another one right now.

Thanks for dropping by Emily's blog. I hope you'll visit again and tell her I sent you.

  3. This is great, Joyce! So informative about how to do research, as well as about what you found. I look forward to the day I hold the book in my hands! One of my pastors served as a Mennonite missionary in Halle before coming to us a few years ago. I'm sure he and his family will be interested in the book when it comes out.

  4. Hi Peggy - Love that connection. He was probably right where we were. In the building we stayed in.

Who knows, he and his family might also be able to help me with research!

I'd love it if you have a minute to let Emily know you were on her blog.

  5. What a great post topic! I found that research influences a trip in that my itinerary becomes very scheduled. Not much time/money for going off the beaten path.
