NEW BOOK COVERS & OTHER GOOD STUFF

Remember these?

Well, they're getting a new look!

And COMFORT is joining BLUE in paperback! (all this, in late September)

So, naturally, I'm celebrating!  Which means a contest, of course!  I'll give the paperback pair to one winner each month from October through December.   You or your friends may enter at any time!

Here's how you enter.
1.  Follow me. (Click on "Join This Site"  at right and follow instructions.  (If you already follow me, proceed to # 2.)
2.  Tell me you want the Paperback Pair.
3.  Sit back and wait for the announcement.

No, wait!  Don't just sit back and wait!  Send your friends over here!

So you might be asking, Does "Join this Site" mean I have to read it?  Of course not!  But it'll help me look good and in this business it's all about perceptions, right? Or deceptions maybe...

I will try to hook you into reading.  And that's no lie.  At least, come back to see if you won!

NORTH CAROLINA SCHOOL LIBRARY MEDIA ASSOCIATION

What do you think? Do these colors go together?

Last Thursday I spoke at the annual conference of North Carolina School Library Media Association. When I walked in for my first session the lovely Leah Robertson was waiting to help me set up. Leah is a media specialist at Perquiman's Middle School.

Don't you love that word - Perquimans? I confess, I had forgotten NC had a Perquimans County. (It's been a few years since Mr. Seitz and 7th grade Social Studies.)

I gave the same session twice - "From Feeling BLUE to COMFORT"- a picture-laden PowerPoint of BLUE and its sequel (May '09). There were familiar faces in the audience.

Like Renee Cameron pictured with me here in Raleigh in January.

And new faces too - like Pam Jackson!

I was pleased to sign books right next to Julia Ebel whose new poetry book Dresses, Dreams, and Beadwood Leaves is worthy of a blogpost in itself. More on her later!

And of course there was the awesome Adam Rex winner of North Carolina Children's Book Award for Frankenstein Makes a Sandwich.

Adam is a very funny guy - and most deserving of the award. And he deserves much more than a few lines at the end of a post so I will be back with my impressions and some interesting pics.
