On this Monday before Thanksgiving I am giving a shout-out to the students in Mr. Miller's early college classes who are participating in National Novel Writing Month.
I'm certain that each of them has left me in the dust.
November, as I expected, was too busy for me to try writing a novel, but I'm doing it anyway.
Last week, I was overwhelmed with seminar responsibilities and Blue sequel details. But now I am back in front of my fireplace and have managed another 4,000 words in 2 days. I am writing again. I am hopeful. I have less than half of my anticipated word count and only 7 days to go.
There are plenty of things on the schedule to keep me from pulling this off. One of the biggest is simply that I need to do more research.
But I wasn't going to complain about that one more time. So forget I said it.
Today I will make it to the half-way mark.
Tomorrow I head toward the finish line.
If you are in Mr. Miller's class and have lots of catching up to do, believe me when I say, "I am right there behind you!" Stumbling, panting, and typing like a mad woman.
And yes, one of my characters has read from the telephone directory in order to help me with my word count!
Only 28,000 or so to go!

ReplyDeleteHA! I love it! You amaze me, Joyce. I can't imagine pulling so much together all at once. I'm working on revisions, and thought I would blaze through them. Then life reminded me that it needs my attention, too. Oh well, I'm still making good progress.
And I got the Pocono Retreat site all set up!! Woohoo!
Hang in there and have a lovely Thanksgiving!
How creative!!!! At first I wasn't sure what that meant, than I got it. Good way to accumulate some words. Keep drinking that strong coffee, finding inspiring writing stations and typing like a mad woman -- it will come together I am sure. You are an amazing writer. Don't forget to get a few zzzzz's and say a few words to the hubby.
