For example Franklin Delano Roosevelt! After we met at Warm Springs, Georgia, FDR sent me this picture. It’s a little out of season to be sure but that’s not his fault. He sent it before Christmas. I just failed to post it then.
His name is Bob Prater, actually. I met him on Labor Day at the historic pools at Roosevelt Institute for Rehabilitation in Warm Springs, GA. We became instant friends – maybe because we both love history. And we have a fondness for Warm Springs.

Bob does historical interpretations of FDR. I haven’t been so lucky as to experience one yet. But I will. It is just a matter of time. I'm always looking for an opportunity to visit Warm Springs and I intend to get there sometime when he is in character.

It's fun to see these pics again after hearing you talk about these folks in the school presentation. I am so enjoying your daily entries. I look forward to visiting this site every day.
ReplyDeleteJeannie, Thanks for coming back!
ReplyDeleteThe picture of FDR at Christmas was taken on Saturday before Thanksgiving at the Sarah Delano Roosevelt Community Center in Warm Springs. The Roosevelts were never at the Little White House at Christmas so the house is not decorated.
ReplyDeleteIt is possible that the President could have greeted friends from the community at the community building as he was in town many Thankisgivings.
Thanks for posting the pictures and comments.
See you soon?
Bob
Oh, that is fascinating that LWH is never decorated because the Roosevelts were never there at Christmas!
ReplyDeleteHistorical accuracy - I love it!
