Buzzzzzzzzzzz...... National History Bee Middle School Competition

Got a middle schooler who loves history?  And competition?

Maybe he or she would love to participate in the first ever National History Bee Middle School Competition.

From the history.com website:

"Students have the opportunity to win a trip to Washington, DC and compete for the $50,000 Grand Prize Scholarship at the National Championship, which will air on History."

Buzz on over, my friend.

  1. Oh, why oh why am I not a middle school student?? Just missed that cutoff age, by mere INCHES ;)
    I could have used the $50 K scholarship. :)
But seriously, what an amazing opportunity. This is going to open some incredible doors for some lucky (and deserving) kid!

  2. Oh Katia, I hate you missed it. Maybe your son is eligible to win this money for you? Or you could start grooming him for another year.

Yes, it does seem like an incredibly good opportunity for someone who wants to work hard and has the knack!

  3. Joyce, I was just joking, mostly. :) As for my son, he isn't into competitions, much, that's why I didn't even think of him, but now I am thinking, you never know, right? I better ask him, after all! In any case, thanks for sharing.

  7. Hmmm, I don't think I would have won this prize--but will forward your link to two homeschoolers who might have a chance!

  8. You blogged! But it didn't include lots of pictures and interesting captions... at least not the ones I was anticipating. :) Maybe someday.

  9. Amy, I did. And you did too. I read it this morning. Just haven't commented yet. But I will. Thanks for dropping by!

Are you going to blog about deep sea fishing sometime? Because you painted some rather vivid pictures with your storytelling last night.

  10. I wish I were in school, too, I love history and was pretty good at it. Oh well! Will pass this on the friends with middle schoolers.

Thanks for keeping people informed about things like this. (BTW, I love The Character Therapist you posted about a few weeks ago.)

  12. Oh, I think a history bee sounds WONDERFUL. As one who thinks not enough history has been taught for, oh, the last 40 years or so, I hope this will spark interest among more kids.
